Members of the CoastTV News Team at the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association Awards for 2024. 

OCEAN CITY, Md. - CoastTV News won eight Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association Awards for 2024, including Outstanding News Operation.

The station was nominated for 17 awards this year, with submissions drawn from a wide range of stories aired in 2024. Below are the wins for the news station.

  • Outstanding News Operation – John Dearing, Madeleine Overturf and Torie Seagraves.

  • Outstanding News Series – John Dearing, Olivia Armstrong and Brandon Ferguson, "Medical Waste Mystery"

  • Best Enterprise Reporting – Mallory Metzner and Ted Corriero, "Property Assessment Problems"

  • Outstanding Light Feature – Mallory Metzner and Ted Corriero, "Military Plane Museum Takes Flight From Aerial Spraying Business"

  • Best Multimedia Journalist – Brandon Ferguson

  • Outstanding Website – Torie Seagraves and Zoe Stayman

  • Best TV News Anchor – Charlie Sokaitis
  • Outstanding Morning Newscast – Alyssa Baker, Matt Pencek and Bob Trihy

This is the third year in a row CoastTV has won Outstanding News Operation, viewed by many as the highest honor the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association bestows in its award presentation. 

Draper Media, CoastTV's parent company, won multiple awards throughout the evening in between CoastTV, WBOC-TV and Delmarva Sports Network. 

CoastTV also took home several second-place finishes, including Best Producer, Best Photography, Best Specialty Reporting, Best Anchor and more.

Kristina DeRobertis joined CoastTV as an anchor and video journalist in August 2024. She has been with Draper Media since 2022 and previously worked as a reporter for WBOC out of the station's Dover Bureau. Kristina holds a degree in journalism and media studies with a minor in digital communications from Rutgers University.
