DOVER, Del.- Delaware State Police say the agency is investigating a deadly crash that left a 76-year-old Dover woman dead and a 17-year-old boy from Marydel, Maryland, hurt Thursday evening in Dover.
According to Delaware State Police, the crash happened around 6 p.m. on July 3 at the intersection of Birchfield Drive and Forrest Avenue. Troopers say Ann Skeans of Dover was driving a Honda Accord and had stopped at the stop sign, but then failed to remain stopped and pulled into the roadway.
At that moment, the teenager's Hyundai Veloster was driving west on Forest Avenue. Police say the left front of the Hyundai hit the right front of the Honda, causing significant damage to both cars.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The teenager was also taken to the hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.
According to police, Forrest Avenue was partially closed for about three and a half hours while the Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated and cleared the crash.
