Both bills passed with bipartisan support and now go to Gov. Matt Meyer for his signature.

DELAWARE- Two consumer protection bills are headed to the governor’s desk after passing through the Delaware General Assembly this week.

One of them, Senate Bill 40, would give the Attorney General’s Office more power to step in when manufactured home communities aren’t being properly maintained.

Lawmakers say it’s meant to help protect residents from unsafe or neglected living conditions.

“By providing my office with the means to intervene on behalf of those who are being taken advantage of, this piece of legislation will save our constituents time, money and dignity,” said Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings.

The other, House Bill 67, sets new rules for towing companies, including requirements for clear signage, documentation and reasonable fees.

It’s aimed at stopping predatory towing practices and making it easier for people to find and get their cars back.

Both bills passed with bipartisan support and now go to Gov. Matt Meyer for his signature.
