GEORGETOWN, Del. - A very special cargo shipment made its way to the Brandywine Valley SPCA campus in Georgetown: a converted truck filled with crates, leashes, puppy pads—and, of course, 20 dogs ready for their forever homes.

Paul Steklenski, founder of the nonprofit Flying Fur Animal Rescue and driver of the truck, brought the dogs up from North Carolina on Wednesday. Steklenski said he started the organization as a passion project.
"I do what I can when I can in my spare time, you know, to help transport animals," Steklenski said.
Laura Page, senior operations manager at the Georgetown Brandywine Valley SPCA facility, told CoastTV that dogs are important members of the family.

"They love us unconditionally. They don't care if you're having a bad hair day. They don't care if you, you know, had a rough day at work. They're going to love you no matter what," Page said.
The Brandywine Valley SPCA will hold its Mega Adoption Event this Saturday and Sunday at the Bob Carpenter Center at the University of Delaware. Both dogs and cats will be available for adoption. All pets will be vaccinated, microchipped and neutered, and will be ready to go home for $35.
