GEORGETOWN - Sussex Academy eighth grade science teacher John Reichenberg recently completed the U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research STEM Teacher Leadership Academy, an immersive professional development program focused on emerging science and technology.
Reichenberg joined educators from across the country and explored fields including quantum computing, artificial intelligence, neuroscience, autonomous systems and biotechnology. Participants also learned directly from leading scientists, including a Nobel laureate.
Reichenberg said he plans to bring what he learned back to his students and share new resources with fellow educators.
The academy also gave Reichenberg the opportunity to collaborate with STEM teachers from across the country and explore ways to better prepare students for careers in science, engineering and technology.
“Learning directly from scientists working at the forefront of discovery was an incredible experience,” Reichenberg said. “I’m excited to bring what I learned back to my students at Sussex Academy and help them see how the science they study today connects to the technologies and careers of the future.”
