NEW YORK - Veteran journalist Eva Pilgrim has been named the next anchor of Inside Edition, according to executive producer Charles Lachman.

Pilgrim will take over the anchor role this fall as the program enters its 38th season, the release stated. She will become only the fourth person to anchor the show, following the recent departure of Deborah Norville, who led the program for 30 years.

Pilgrim joins Inside Edition from ABC News, where she most recently served as co-anchor of GMA3: What You Need to Know and as a senior national correspondent based in New York, according to CBS Media Ventures.

Pilgrim described the opportunity as a dream come true, according to the press release.

“I have been an avid viewer and fan of the show for many years,” Pilgrim said. “I’m pinching myself that I get to work with this amazing team. It’s truly an honor to join a show with such a long, rich history.”

Inside Edition currently reaches nearly 10 million viewers each week and is the Number 1 syndicated newsmagazine in the country, according to CBS.

Inside Edition airs on CoastTV at 5:30 p.m., between CoastTV News at 5 and 6.
