DELAWARE - The Delaware Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS), Division of Public Health (DPH), is excited to announce the launch of the QT30 (30 minutes of quality time) app, a program aimed at making sure young children get a healthy start in life.
According to the department, the QT30 program was developed to provide parents and caregivers of children ages 0 to 8 with activities that they can do every day to ensure those 30 minutes are met. The app is free for download in the Apple Store and Google Play.
“Dedicating just 30 minutes a day to a child can lead to better health and increase the chance of that child being ready for school and life overall,” explains Crystal Sherman, Chief Maternal and Child Health Bureau, DPH. “With QT30, we are asking parents, grandparents, older siblings, and anyone else important in a young child’s life to focus 100% of their attention on quality time, through fun, easy-to-do activities.”
The department says the QT30 app offers more than 150 activities for age ranges 0 to 3 and 4 to 8, arranged by type of activity — outdoor, indoor, arts and crafts, words/numbers/sounds, and kitchen and in-home.
The app also features a timer to track how much time is spent, and activities come with video instructions too.
