SELBYVILLE, Del. - Freeman Arts Pavilion is collecting art supplies to help students at 10 area middle schools ahead of the new school year.
The pavilion's fourth annual Arts Supply Drive will run from Aug. 22 through Sept. 12. The requested items were selected based on input from art teachers and include supplies for painting, drawing, ceramics, textiles, printmaking, jewelry-making and mixed-media projects.
Items range from classroom basics such as markers, brushes, paper and glue to weaving looms, linocut tools, clay equipment and embroidery kits.
"When teachers have the materials they need, they can give students more opportunities to experiment, take creative risks and find that spark that can stay with them long after they leave the classroom. This drive is a simple way for our community to make that possible," said Patti Grimes, executive director of the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation.
Supplies can be dropped off at Freeman Arts Pavilion, located at 31806 Lake View Drive in Selbyville, on select performance days beginning at 4 p.m. The venue will be open Aug. 22-23, Aug. 25, Aug. 27-30, Sept. 2, Sept. 4-5 and Sept. 9-12. A drop box will be located near the main entrance.
Donations will also be accepted at the Carl M. Freeman Foundation Office Building at 31255 Americana Parkway in Selbyville from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Carl M. Freeman Foundation will match all donations received during the drive. People who cannot donate in person can purchase supplies through the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation's Amazon Wish List.
