GEORGETOWN, Del. - The town of Georgetown is currently seeking applicants for five vacant positions, offering a term of three years, expiring in June 2028. The open positions include two seats on the Planning Commission and three seats on the Board of Adjustment.
Planning Commission Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for a position on the Planning Commission, applicants must be at least 21 years old, a U.S. citizen, a resident of Delaware, and specifically a resident of Georgetown. The commission focuses on urban and rural planning and development, addressing key issues related to zoning, land use, and development within the town. Regular meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m., with additional workshops for special projects assigned by the Mayor and Council.

Board of Adjustment Eligibility Requirements
For the Board of Adjustment, applicants must be Georgetown residents and have an understanding of urban and rural development issues. The board's primary role is to hear and decide appeals concerning special exceptions, variances, and alleged errors in any orders, requirements, decisions, or determinations made by an administrative official in the administration or enforcement of the Town Code (Chapter 230). The Board meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m.
