DELAWARE- Gov. Matt Meyer has nominated Judge Eric M. Davis to serve as the next president judge of the Superior Court of Delaware.
If confirmed, Davis will succeed former President Judge Jan R. Jurden.
Davis has served on the Superior Court since 2012 and previously chaired the court’s Complex Commercial Litigation Division. Before his appointment, he served on the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware.
“Judge Davis has demonstrated exceptional dedication and judicial acumen throughout his tenure,” Meyer said. “His extensive experience and commitment to justice make him a great choice to lead our Superior Court into the future.”
Davis earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in 1985 and his law degree from Emory University School of Law in 1992. He previously practiced law at Miles & Stockbridge, P.C. and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where he became a partner.
“I am honored by the trust Gov. Meyer has placed in me,” Davis said. “If confirmed, I look forward to continuing to serve the people of Delaware and upholding the high standards of our judiciary.”
The Superior Court of Delaware handles a range of civil and criminal cases and is recognized for its role in corporate and commercial law. Davis’ nomination is subject to Senate confirmation.
