GEORGETOWN, Del. - On Tuesday, June 3, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents notified the Georgetown Police Department about an operation to apprehend a fugitive within the town limits, in accordance with coordination protocols intended to protect residents and law enforcement personnel, according to the local department.

According to a statement from the Georgetown Police Department, ICE agents were actively searching for an individual with an outstanding criminal arrest warrant. The local police did not participate in the operation and were not asked to provide support by ICE. The individual was located and taken into custody without incident, the department said.

Due to the confidential nature of the federal investigation, specific details cannot be disclosed at this time, the department said.

The Georgetown Police Department reiterated in its statement that the safety of residents and visitors remains its top priority. The community is encouraged to report any suspicious activity by calling 302-856-6613, or dialing 911 in case of emergency.
