Kevin Seefried of Laurel Sentenced to 3 Years for Capitol Riot Participation
Kevin Seefried, a 53-year-old man from Laurel, was sentenced to 36 months in prison on Thursday afternoon for his participation in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. While this is less than the 70-month sentence that prosecutors were seeking, it is more than the one year that his lawyers requested.

Seefried wipe away tears throughout the sentencing, especially at the mention of his son. His lawyers said Seefried was "caught up in the moment" when he carried a Confederate flag into the Capitol and jabbed a police officer with it.
