GREENSBORO, Md. - According to officials, a late-night fire on Saturday, April 19, caused major damage to a Greensboro home.
The fire was reported at 11:48 p.m. at 13069 Greensboro Road in Caroline County. Officials said the two-story, single-family home sustained an estimated $110,000 in structural damage and $15,000 in damage to its contents. No injuries were reported.
According to the Greensboro Volunteer Fire Company, about 60 firefighters responded to the scene. The fire was brought under control in about 90 minutes and required one alarm.
According to officials, the fire started inside the home and was discovered by someone passing by. A smoke alarm was present, but it is unknown whether it activated. Officials also said there was no fire alarm or sprinkler system in the home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Upper Eastern Regional Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal at 410-819-3500.
