OCEAN CITY, Md. - A 47-year-old man is being held without bond after Ocean City police charged him in connection with an armed robbery at a motel near 71st Street early Monday morning.
Ocean City police said officers were called to the motel around 1:47 a.m. Aug. 17. A motel employee told police that a man entered the front lobby, pointed a knife at him and demanded money. The man then left the motel and was last seen walking north on Coastal Highway.
The employee provided police with a description of the robber. Members of the Ocean City Police Department's Arrest & Detection Section determined the description matched Troy Evans, according to the department.
Evans was charged with armed robbery, robbery, theft under $100, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment. (OCPD)
Police said Evans had been released from the Public Safety Building about four hours earlier following an Aug. 16 arrest for an open-container violation near 44th Street. He had been released on his personal recognizance.
Officers searched the area and found Evans in the 10-block of 87th Street around 2:20 a.m. He was arrested, and police said Evans was found with two knives and cash on him.
Evans was charged with armed robbery, robbery, theft under $100, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment. Police said Evans appeared before a Maryland District Court commissioner and was held without bond. He was later transferred to the Worcester County Jail.
