DOVER, Del. - To celebrate a summer of fun on NASCAR weekend, Dover Motor Speedway and Visit Delaware are bringing the tradition, sounds, vendors and atmosphere of Delaware's beach communities to Dover's famed fan zone this July.
Miles Beach, presented by Visit Delaware, is taking more than one acre of Dover's fan zone to be devoted to family friendly, beach-themed attractions that will include free options from July 18-20.
Miles Beach attractions include:
- 600 tons of sand to create an authentic beach area with ample seating and shade, along with a boardwalk, palm trees, beach balls, chairs, vintage cars and beach grasses.
- The world's largest rubber duck: This 60-foot-tall, 15.5-ton yellow duck will return and tower over Miles Beach and the fan zone throughout Dover's NASCAR weekend.
- White Lightning Bar and Arcade: An indoor/outdoor hangout for campers and fans to enjoy all weekend, featuring a full bar as well as more than a dozen classic arcade favorites.
- Food and beverages featuring Delaware's famous orange crushes, crispy boardwalk fries, Dolle's salt-water taffy and popcorn, ice cream treats and other beach-themed favorites.
- Live appearances and performances from NASCAR drivers, the Mariachi Arrieros Band, Trinidad North Steel Drum Band, The Red Hot Ramblers and Homestead Bluegrass Band, and more to be announced.
"Miles Beach, presented by Visit Delaware gives all of NASCAR Nation a chance to experience a taste of what makes First State summers so special,” said Mike Tatoian, Dover Motor Speedway’s president and general manager. “We hope all of our fans will hang out with the Miles Beach Patrol, dip their toes in the sand and enjoy some iconic Delaware tunes and treats before and after enjoying America’s best racing at the Monster Mile in July!”
