Route 113 in Milford

The City of Milford is asking DelDOT to rejoin the plans for improvements along Route 113 with changes like lowering the speed limit.

MILFORD, Del. - The City of Milford is asking DelDOT to rejoin the plans for improvements along Route 113. Milford originally denied participating in 2007 because they did not feel the work was necessary at the time. Since then, growth has expedited and the City's population has more than doubled.

The city hopes that by making changes like lowering the speed limit, that it will help with traffic congestion on the major roadway,

"We need to slow the traffic down and we have to let people know that eventually it's going to stay that way, not just a temporary thing." said Mayor Archie Campbell.

However Nylah Felder who commutes on Route 113 for work thinks that roadwork on top of the traffic of Route 113 would make her drive more difficult,

"Traffic is already bad as is. In the long run, it would be better because I feel like it would move smoother. In the meantime, I do feel like it would be bad." said Felder.

DelDOT says it has begun to look back at some of the proposed solutions from 2007 to see if any of which could be applicable to the conditions of the Route 113 corridor currently. However, these plans will ultimately only happen if there is a public consensus, which there was not when the plan was originally proposed.
