Milton water tower

Town leaders have not said when construction would begin if the plan is approved.

MILTON, Del. - Finding a parking spot in downtown Milton could soon get easier. Town leaders say they are considering a plan to develop a lot behind the Milton Historical Society, which would nearly double the parking availability in the area.

The proposed site is located at the corner of Magnolia Street and Union Street. The Milton Town Council is expected to vote on the design of the lot during its meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Milton Library.

The idea has been under discussion for months, with many people in the area voicing their support.

"I think it's a great idea because we often come over here for, shows, the theater. And a lot of times it's difficult finding parking places,” said Dan Felder of Milton. “So it'd be nice to have more convenient parking to the theater."

If approved, the lot would provide much-needed relief for drivers visiting downtown restaurants, shops and events at the Milton Theatre, which is only a short walk away.
