zoo closed due to flooding

DELMARVA-- Multiple attractions across the peninsula are closed Monday due to heavy rain and flooding.

Schellville recently faced an unexpected closure due to inclement weather on December 17th. Organizers say a severe storm, accompanied by heavy rain, caused power outages and flooding, making it impossible to open safely. As a result, the village had to remain closed on the evening of December 18th, disappointing many eager guests.

However, the organizers have not let this setback dampen their spirits. In a bid to make up for the weather-related closures, Schellville has decided to extend its season beyond the new year. Two additional dates, January 1st and 2nd, have been added to the schedule. These bonus days are a special gift to the community, and tickets will be available on a walk-up basis only.

While Santa Claus will bid adieu on December 23rd, all other activities at Schellville will continue as usual, promising an extended season of joy and wonder.

Cape Henlopen State Park temporarily closed all vehicle surf crossings due to dangerously high surf conditions. The safety of visitors is paramount, and park officials say they are closely monitoring the situation. An announcement will be made as soon as it is safe to reopen the surf crossings.

The Salisbury Zoo, a beloved destination for animal lovers and families, had to shut its doors due to heavy rain and flooding. The zoo, which is home to a diverse range of animals and educational programs, is committed to the well-being of its residents and visitors. As a result, the decision to close temporarily was made to ensure everyone's safety.
