Working to keep the majority in Congress, Republicans are showcasing their chief legislative accomplishment in this midterm election. The so-called Big Beautiful Bill has had mixed results. Millions of people have enjoyed enhanced tax breaks, while millions are also losing access to federal food aid and health care. More immigrants are being arrested. As Republicans rally in Dallas for their midterm convention, the legislation is again under the spotlight. Democrats call it the “Big Ugly Bill.”
