According to DelDOT, Route 1 will have nighttime lane closures Monday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., and Friday through Sunday from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.

MILTON, Del. - Drivers traveling through the Route 1 and Route 16 intersection near Milton should prepare for new lane closure hours beginning Thursday, May 1, as part of ongoing road construction by Delaware Department of Transportation.

According to DelDOT, Route 1 will have nighttime lane closures Monday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., and Friday through Sunday from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.

On Route 16, drivers should expect daytime closures Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nighttime closures will also be in place Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m., and Saturday through Sunday from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.

These adjusted lane closure hours are scheduled to continue through September 30, and the current traffic pattern will stay the same until late fall 2025 says DelDOT. Construction crews are actively working on the northbound pavement, embankment and bridge along Route 1 as part of the overpass project. DelDOT anticipates the full project will be completed by early 2026.
