NORTH BETHANY, Del.- According to the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company, someone was rescued Wednesday evening after falling down an elevator shaft in North Bethany.

BBVFC and other emergency medical agencies responded to the scene, where the patient was assessed as a priority one.

Firefighters and medics stabilized the patient, and a landing zone was set up at the Bethany Beach Park for Delaware State Police Trooper 2.

Officials say the patient was then flown to Christiana Hospital in Wilmington for further treatment.
