REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - Delaware State Police says they are continuing to investigate a deadly motorcycle crash on Route 1 that killed a Rehoboth Beach man earlier this month.
According to police, on Sept. 2 just before 5:45 p.m., a Honda Cruiser motorcycle was driving in the left lane of Route 1 heading north, just after Camelot Drive. They say a Jeep Cherokee was stopped directly in front of the bike.
Police say, that for unknown reasons, the motorcycle did not stop, and hit the back of the jeep. As a result, they say the driver of the Honda, 81-year-old Richard Bland from Rehoboth, was launched off the bike and was critically injured. Troopers say Bland was taken to the hospital, but died from his injuries over two weeks later of Sept. 19. They say the driver of the Jeep, a 55-year-old Randolph, New Jersey man, was not injured.
Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Master Corporal K.
