Route 1 lane closure brings traffic delays near Lewes

Drivers heading south on Route 1 are dealing with traffic backups after another lane closure began Monday as part of ongoing roadwork. Delaware Department of Transportation crews are using the lane closure to safely move barriers and complete work on the road, including paving.

The right lane of Route 1 south in Lewes has been closed since Monday. DelDOT says the closure is for paving, guardrail installation, and barrier relocation work. DelDOT says, weather permitting, the work will be complete Tuesday, Sept. 25.
