LEWES, Del. - There was a crowd of over 155 runners who came out to participate in the Shuck Cancer 5K in Lewes.Â
The 5K run hosted by Big Oyster Brewery in partnership with Fighting Pretty, a non profit who help women battling cancer feel strong and beautiful.
One local Matt Busillo who ran in the race said today was a perfect way to show his support for the cause.Â
"It's just so nice to come to a place on a Sunday morning and be happy and do a good thing," Busillo said.
Jody Mihok is a 2x cancer survivor and she came to walk with her daughter and her team of "Joadsters Pink Roadsters."
"I'm walking for myself and all the other breast cancer survivors, the ones who have passed the ones who are still fighting," Mihok said.
The run today is about the fight that so many women face and Mihok said its important to be aware of your status.Â
"People need to know important it is to be on top of their health, Mihok said. "They should be proactive with their health care and doing preventative screenings."
The 5k has raised $6,000 in sponsor money, 20% of the beer sales and all the raffle sales will go directly to Fighting Pretty.
