PRESTON, Md. - A house fire Friday morning in Dorchester County was caused by an electrical circuit failure in the living room, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal.
The fire occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Butler Road. It was discovered by someone in the home, though an investigation into the fire reveals that smoke alarms did not function.
Damage is estimated at $60,000 for the building and $25,000 for belongings inside. About 35 firefighters were on the scene for about 35 minutes.
