SOUTH BETHANY, Del. — South Bethany is preparing for another round of canal improvements as it moves closer to clearing algae and enhancing water quality.
The Canal Water Quality Committee is set to meet Monday morning to discuss spring harvesting plans, which are scheduled to take place next month and again in mid-May. Last year, the South Bethany Town Council reported a significant increase in dissolved oxygen levels, which were 70 percnet higher in 2023 compared to 2022.
The 10 a.m. meeting will also review various water quality improvement methods. Agenda items include updates on submerged aquatic vegetation, canal cleaning, and the algae harvesting program.
Additionally, the committee will discuss the TryMarine Water Improvement Approach, rain gardens, tidal flow pilot efforts, and hydrodynamic modeling.
