Harris was serving an 18-month prison sentence for a fifth offense driving under the influence.

GEORGETOWN, Del.- The Delaware Department of Correction announced that Frederick Harris, a 67-year-old man from Sussex Correctional Institution, died early Monday, July 7, after being moved to a local hospital for treatment of chronic health conditions.

Harris, who was from Milford, had been in the Department's custody since February and was serving an 18-month prison sentence for a fifth offense driving under the influence. According to Department officials, he had been receiving care for significant ongoing medical issues before being transferred to Beebe Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:12 a.m.
