SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. - Corn growers in Sussex County can now receive free soil nitrogen tests from the Sussex Conservation District. The tests measure how much nitrogen is already in the soil, helping farmers determine whether additional fertilizer is needed.
The service is especially useful for fields treated with animal manure. Testing in the spring can reduce unnecessary fertilizer use and improve decision-making.
Farmers are encouraged to schedule the test within one week of planting. Availability is limited.
