MILTON, Del. - The Delaware Department of Transportation has announced new lane closures at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 16 starting Oct. 1
The department says drivers should expect daytime road closures Monday though Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. At nighttime, they say drivers should expect lane closures seven days a week from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The department also says that drivers on Route 16 should expect lane closures seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., as well as 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
According to the department, this will be the traffic pattern throughout the entire off season, ending Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
Officials say their contractor continues to work on the overpass southbound pavement, embankment, bridge, and ramps. They expect the project to be complete in fall 2025. Construction began in June 2022.
