Rehoboth Beach Walmart Accident

At about 8:02 a.m., Delaware State Police responded to a crash in the Walmart parking lot on Rehoboth Mall Boulevard.

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - A 66-year-old woman, identified as Antonia Walton of Rehoboth Beach, was killed Monday morning after being hit by a truck in the Walmart parking lot on Rehoboth Mall Boulevard, said Delaware State Police.

At about 7:58 a.m., DSP responded to a crash in the Walmart parking lot. DSP confirms that a Dodge Ram was backing onto the sidewalk to load mulch when it struck the woman, who was standing behind the truck to help guide the driver.

Investigators said Walton was pinned against the building and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 76-year-old man from Rehoboth Beach, was not hurt, police said.

Another pedestrian was recently hit and killed in the Weis parking lot in Lewes. Debbie Priddy had been walking in the parking lot when a black Jeep Grand Cherokee hit her.

Jane Shipley uses the Rehoboth Mall Boulevard parking lot and says it's not just concerning there; it's everywhere.

"It's a scary driving scene down here. Haven't been here that long, but man, I've seen a lot of accidents and a lot of near accidents," said Shipley. "And I'm really nervous about the summer because I'm sure is going to be a lot worse then."

Peggy Carmine uses the parking lot with the Weis in Lewes and says she gets nervous when walking through it.

"I think they're not really paying attention," said Carmine. "They're in too much of a hurry and not doing what they need to be doing: slowing down."
