Long Neck Road crash

A man was hit by a car while walking on Long Neck Road Wednesday night.

LONG NECK, Del. - 77-year-old Bruce Peterson has died from injuries he sustained after being hit by a car Wednesday night, according to Delaware State Police.

They say Peterson was walking west in the eastbound shoulder of Long Neck Road near School Lane just before 9:30 p.m. when he walked into the lane and was hit by a Chrysler. The driver of the Chrysler, a 37-year-old Millsboro woman, tried to stop and was then hit from behind by a Ford.

Police say Peterson was not carrying a light or wearing reflective clothing. He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital in critical condition and died Thursday. The Chrysler driver and the Ford driver, a 23-year-old woman also from Millsboro, were not hurt. 

Travel on the road was restricted for about three hours following the crash.
