The man’s body was discovered Tuesday, June 24, inside a gray Mazda parked on Olive Avenue, just blocks from the center of Rehoboth Beach. Authorities have not released his name.
Local residents expressed shock over the incident.
"I think that led to it being unusual because I don’t remember seeing a death like that in the news," said Byron Hadjokas.
The Delaware Division of Forensic Science is performing an autopsy to determine the man’s cause and time of death.
"Even something as simple as determining if the person had a health issue or took a bad batch of drugs." said Jay Bailey, a visitor to the area.
Rehoboth Beach police initially responded to the scene but later turned the case over to the Delaware State Police. As of Monday, state police said the investigation remains active.
