WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. - Worcester County Animal Control is urging residents to take simple steps to prevent wildlife from entering their homes or becoming a nuisance.
Officials say Maryland regulations generally prevent healthy wildlife trapped as a nuisance from being relocated. Animals must either be released where they were captured or humanely euthanized.
Animal controlsays residents can help by keeping pet food indoors, securing trash, closing openings around homes and removing brush and leaves that can provide shelter. Animal Control also recommends keeping cats indoors and avoiding trapping as a first response.
Officials say removing what is attracting wildlife can help prevent conflicts and potentially save an animal’s life.
