LEWES, Del. - The Zwaanendael Museum will be giving a tour of the HMS DeBraak shipwreck remnants beginning in May, hosted by the Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs.

The 'Walk to the DeBraak' is designed to highlight the historical significance of the vessel to the coast, showcasing the surviving artifacts and a segment of the ship's hull, in addition to the lives of the crew members that piloted the ship during its voyages.

Participants will meet with Zwaanendael staff at the Cape Henlopen State Park Office to take a short walk to the facility. The tour is expected to take 45 minutes and those 10 and older are welcome. All participants must wear appropriate footwear throughout the tour.

The dates and times for the tour are as follows:

  • May 1 from 10 to 11 a.m.
  • May 10 from 3 to 4 p.m.
  • May 15 from 10 to 11 a.m.

In addition, the museum says they will be offering a May Day seasonal craft event on May 3 from 2 to 3 p.m. This event will provide a short 15-minute lecture paired with fun and easy crafts, all to connect participants to the nautical and agricultural traditions of the coast.

The museum is located on 102 Kings Highway in Lewes. For more information, you can visit their website.
