According to the Maryland Department of Transportation, the eastbound Bay Bridge will close Sunday, Nov. 9, for the annual Bay Bridge Run. 

Drivers planning to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge this holiday weekend are getting a heads-up from transportation officials on the best and worst times to travel.

The Maryland Transportation Authority will move forward with the design phase of a $160 million project to improve pier protection at the Bay Bridge, according to a letter sent to the National Transportation Safety Board earlier this month.

The Maryland Transportation Authority says it is actively reviewing recommendations from the National Transportation Safety Board following the deadly crash involving the container ship DALI and the Key Bridge last year.

A tractor-trailer fire shut down the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel early Wednesday, Feb. 19, causing major delays for travelers. All lanes reopened to traffic at 10:55 a.m.

The MDTA arrested Melvin Clark, the suspect in Bay Bridge shooting, is charged with assault and driving offenses.

Officials say inclement weather may impact travel plans for drivers crossing the Bay Bridge on May 10th. Two-way operations, where one lane of east traffic is directed to the west span, could be disrupted.

As officials and emergency personnel launch into action, the average person on the street is left stunned. CoastTV crews made our way to Ocean City Tuesday to talk to people about this ongoing catastrophe. 

According to MDTA, commuters should be prepared for potential eastbound delays, especially during the afternoon rush-hour period. 

 Early on Saturday, January 27th, the westbound span of the Bay Bridge was closed due to a multi-vehicle accident.
