The Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation is asking people who get electricity from municipal utilities across the state to voluntarily reduce their electric use Tuesday morning, Jan. 20, due to cold temperatures and increased energy demand.

In Milford, the "Power Saver Hours" are set from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.. DEC's similar "Beat the Peak" initiative is set to go from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The City suggested different ways to help offset the increase.
Effective in February, customers will observe an increase of $0.00686 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) to $0.02124 per kWh for energy usage in 2024.
