80 years ago, in the days following the end of World War II in Europe, the waters off Cape Henlopen witnessed a historic moment: the first enemy warship to surrender in U.S. waters since the War of 1812. U-858 was towed to what is now the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park.

Newton Pond will undergo major improvement requiring it to close until the work is complete. Fishers are expected to greatly benefit from the changes coming to the pond.
