Delaware- Exciting news for Newton Pond. According to the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), two new fishing piers are set to be built at Newton Pond. These two new aluminum piers will be 120 feet in length, built parallel to the shoreline. According to the agency, these new piers are needed to allow fishers better access to the water. Currently, DNREC says that the shore is too steep making fishing difficult.
However, with great reward come great sacrifice. To aid in the construction of the new fishing piers, Newton Pond will be closed until work is complete. DNREC says that the project is expected to be complete by Feb. 14. The agency aims to have the new piers ready for use by the start of the 2024 trout season.
