Gov. Matt Meyer has signed two bills into law that change how Delaware handles book challenges in libraries and expand protections against certain lawsuits tied to public speech.
Today, Delaware Governor Matt Meyer is expected to sign House Bill 119, known as the Freedom to Read Act. The legislation outlines that library materials cannot be removed because of the creator’s background or views.
House Bill 119, known as the Freedom to Read Act, would ensure all Delawareans, regardless of age or background, have the right to access books and educational materials, while establishing a transparent process for reviewing content challenges.
