A 13-year-old student at Milford Central Academy was arrested Monday after he was found with an unloaded handgun on school grounds, according to police.

A 17-year-old student at Sussex Technical High School in Georgetown was arrested following the discovery of drugs in his vehicle on school property.

A second student from Cape Henlopen High School was arrested Thursday for his involvement in last week's incident involving a gun found in a student's backpack on school grounds, according to Delaware State Police.

A firearm was found in the backpack of a student at Cape Henlopen High School Jan. 17, according to a voicemail from the school.

According to troopers, the victim was rushed to an area hospital by her parent, where she received treatment for serious injuries sustained to her head.

Sussex Technical High School has announced an increase in their security team for the new school year.

Potential changes are coming to Cape Henlopen School District intended to improve school safety. The district's board meeting Thursday night revealed a proposed safety plan to add armed constables and school resource officers to the schools with some help from the City of Lewes and the state of Delaware.
