Police confirmed the gun was unloaded and that the student did not have any ammunition.

MILFORD, Del. - A 13-year-old student at Milford Central Academy was arrested Monday after he was found with an unloaded handgun on school grounds, according to Milford Police Department.

The incident occurred on June 2 during the school day when another student reported a photo of the boy displaying what appeared to be a gun. School administration contacted the School Resource Officer, who quickly located and secured the weapon and took the student into custody.

Police confirmed the gun was unloaded and that the student did not have any ammunition.

The boy is facing multiple charges, including:

  • Possession, purchase, own or control of a deadly weapon by a person under 18 (felony)

  • Carrying a concealed deadly weapon (firearm) (felony)

  • Terroristic threatening

  • Possession of a weapon in a safe recreation zone

Police say the student was released to a parent and has a pending court date in Kent County Family Court.
