Student attack

Felton, Del. - A 14-year-old student has been arrested after allegedly brutally attacking her fellow classmate this week.

Police say on Tuesday at Lake Forest High School, the 14-year-old female student entered a classroom and violently assaulted another 14-year-old student, repeatedly punching and stomping on the victim's head. Police say the assailant was swiftly removed from the classroom by teachers and subsequently detained by the School Resource Officer.

The severity of the attack necessitated immediate medical attention. According to troopers, the victim was rushed to an area hospital by her parent, where she received treatment for serious injuries sustained to her head.

Police say on Saturday the 14-year-old suspect voluntarily turned herself in to law enforcement authorities to face the charges against her. She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released to a guardian on a $5,000 unsecured bond. The charges brought against the suspect are significant, as she faces a felony charge of Assault Second Degree.
