A late-night roundup on Assateague Island focused on helping a pony diagnosed with swamp cancer while giving cowboys a chance to check other members of the Northern Herd for injuries.
The Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company is now caring for two ponies after one became seriously ill and another was abandoned after its birth.
After being diagnosed in Sept. 2023 with swamp cancer, the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company said ponies Martha Lou and Jubilation have been cleared to return to Chincoteague.
