Monday: DNREC laid out a plan to address long-standing problems at Griffith Dam, including rebuilding the dam’s aging concrete overflow structure. The project will also require closing the nearby boat ramp during construction. A Del Construction was selected by the state for the work, with a pre-bid estimate of $2.6 million.

Tuesday: The Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market moved to the Convention Center parking lot, where it will continue on its scheduled days for the next three weeks. The move comes after the city closed Grove Park over concerns about hazardous trees.

Wednesday: The pastor of St. Paul’s by the Sea Episcopal Church said the church has no plans to stop its mission of housing people experiencing homelessness amid an ongoing lawsuit with the Town of Ocean City. The town claims the church is violating zoning rules. The church has been charged $20,000 in fees so far, though those fees have been paused while litigation continues.

Thursday: A tornado hit Dover and a state of emergency was declared as strong winds and heavy rain caused considerable damage to buildings, homes and other property.

Friday: Dover began recovering as daylight revealed the full extent of the damage left behind by Thursday’s tornado. Community members came together to help those in need and clean up debris and damage throughout the city.
