CHINCOTEAGUE ISLAND, Va. - The 55th annual Chincoteague Seafood Festival will be taking place from May 3 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Tom’s Cove Park.
The festival says that they will be offering a wide variety of local cuisine, accompanied by live coastal entertainment and the island's rich heritage located near the beaches.
Gates open at 10 a.m., with appetizers being served at 11 a.m., featuring a diverse selection including clam chowder, salad bar, grilled chicken, cornbread, and more.
At noon, a long-time festival favorite little neck clams will be served, along with raw oysters and clams, clam fritters, single fried oysters, fried fish, crab cheddar jalapeno poppers, and steamed shrimp.
While alcoholic beverages and desserts will have to be separately purchased with cash, non-alcoholic beverages are included with the purchase of a ticket.
Local businesses and vendors will also be present to sell hand crafted goods, while "Extravaganza of Prizes Raffle" tickets can be purchased for a chance to win t-shirts, lodging, gift certificates for meals, shopping and boat cruises, and more. The drawing takes place at the band stage at 4 p.m.
Tickets are on sale now for $65 each, with those 5 and under getting free admission. You can order online, by calling 757-336-6161 or can be purchased at the chamber office at 6733 Maddox Boulevard.
