OCEAN CITY, Del.- The Ocean City Police Department and Worcester County Health Department will be conducting alcohol compliancy checks throughout the summer season. According to the police department, these checks will help ensure businesses are complying with Maryland alcohol laws.
Checks will be conducted at bars, liquor stores and restaurants. People under the age of 21, under the supervision of plainclothes law enforcement, will attempt to purchase alcohol from these establishments.
“Our top priority is protecting the health and safety of our youth,” said Ocean City Police Chief Raymond Austin. “Preventing access to alcohol is a critical part of reducing risky behavior, potential harm, and long-term consequences for underage individuals.”
The Ocean City Police Department remind all employees to be vigilant when checking I.D.
