POCOMOKE, Md. - The Worcester County Sheriff's Office says two arrests have been made after a dog was found dead and others were found in poor condition.Â
The agency says 31-year-old Kierra Sturgis and 47-year-old Lemond Williams of Pocomoke have each been charged with 36 counts of animal cruelty and animal neglect related charges. Four of these charges are for felony Aggravated Animal Cruelty.
The Sheriff's Office says Worcester County Animal Control responded to the 500 block of Bonneville Avenue for an animal complaint and found two dogs on the front porch in a crate. One of the dogs had passed away.
Investigators say a search and seizure warrant was obtained and two more dogs were found inside emaciated with no food or water.
The Sheriff's Office says these dogs have all been placed in the custody of Worcester County Animal Control and are being treated by a local veterinarian.
Sturgis and Williams were held without bond and are awaiting trial.
