REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - The annual tradition of the Spring Sidewalk Sale returns to Rehoboth Beach this weekend, with shops opening their doors, and sidewalks, to customers starting at 10 a.m. Friday.
Stores already putting out clothes preparing for the sidewalk sale.
Now in its 42nd year, the event is organized by the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce and runs through Sunday. Local retailers will offer sales and merchandise displays outside their stores throughout downtown.
The sale is held rain or shine, and local resident Jean Israel says shoppers will show up regardless of the weather.
"One way or the other, they'll stop here first and buy" Israel said.
Store owners told CoastTV they’re optimistic about turnout and sales, especially if the weather cooperates. Still, they say the event tends to draw strong crowds no matter the forecast.
