BETHANY BEACH, Del. — The Bethany Beach Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a man accused of aiming fireworks at people along Garfield Parkway and later at a group gathered on the beach.
According to police, officers were called to the 100 block of Garfield Parkway over the past few nights after reports of a man launching fireworks at bystanders. When officers arrived, they found a chaotic scene and captured Body Worn Camera footage of a possible suspect who stayed in the area.

Bethany police are looking for this man they say aimed fireworks at people.
Moments later, investigators say the same man moved onto the beach, where he pointed a mortar-style firework into the center of a large crowd, striking multiple people. Officers were nearby and immediately began chasing him on foot.
After an extensive search, Bethany Beach police were able to narrow down their investigation using body camera images from the earlier Garfield Parkway confrontation.
The suspect is described as a Black man between 18 and 20 years old, about 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds. Police said he has short dreadlock-style hair and a scar or scratch under his right eye.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Bethany Beach Police Department at 302-539-1000.
