PET ADOPTION

Pets at the Georgetown Brandywine Valley SPCA being taking out of a van for a 2024 adoption event. 

SUSSEX COUNTY, Del -People looking to adopt a pet will have the opportunity to meet adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens at upcoming Brandywine Valley SPCA events in Sussex County. The adoption events, held in partnership with PetSmart Charities, are set for Saturday, March 29, and Sunday, March 30, as part of PetSmart Charities' National Adoption Week.

"Adoption events in the community are a vital tool in helping homeless animals find loving homes," said Adam Lamb, CEO of Brandywine Valley SPCA. "Thanks to the support of PetSmart Charities, we are able to participate in eight adoption events at PetSmart stores across three states and Washington, DC."

PetSmart Charities works with shelters and rescue groups like Brandywine Valley SPCA to place adoptable animals in local PetSmart stores. Staff and volunteers will be available at each location to help match people with their new best friend.

“Our local shelter and rescue partners are overflowing with animals looking for people to love,” said Heidi Marston, director of pet placement at PetSmart Charities. “Adopting or fostering a pet not only enriches your life but is the best way to support your community and local partners like Brandywine Valley SPCA in their lifesaving work.”

There will be an event Saturday, March 29 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the  Coastal Highway location in Rehoboth Beach. The second event in Sussex County is on Sunday, March 30 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.mat the Millsboro store.
